Touro University - Nevada
Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants


The purpose of the student society shall be to serve as the official organization for the students, to promote academic achievement and clinical excellence, and to promote the physician assistant as a member of the health care delivery team. The student society offers leadership opportunities including president, vice president, secretary, and treasure. SAAAPA is important because it provides a means for students to have a voice within the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) as well as within the community.

Mission

To represent Touro University School of Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant program at the state and national level. To give the PA students of Touro University, Nevada an opportunity to integrate their knowledge, strengthen their skills and socially adapt as pre-healthcare professionals through community involvement. Lastly, to prepare Touro University PA students to serve and reach out to the community through compassion and leadership roles in health care which may be implemented throughout our careers.

Goals

  • Educate the community regarding the Physician Assistant profession.
  • Raise community and state-wide awareness about Touro University School of Osteopathic Medicine and the Physician Assistant program through the design and implementation of community service events.
  • Build a solid relationship between the community and Touro University.
  • To inform SAAAPA members about current and relevant issues directly affecting the PA profession.

Objectives

  • Each member must pay dues of $20 and will have access to all SAAAPA activities and community projects and ultimately make a difference not only in your life but in others as well.
  • Design and implement community service projects.
  • Obtain clinical sights for Physician Assistant students to volunteer.
  • To develop a mentoring program for future PA students.
