TUNCOM Student Government Association

Thursdays at Noon in Classroom 2

LDSSA (Latter-Day Saint Student Association) is a student group affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS).  All are invited to join members of the LDS Church (Mormons) for a weekly “Sunday School” type class to learn, study, and be inspired by the Scriptures and Church history. The class is offered as means to relieve students from the daily bombardment of professional school and provide inspiration for their daily lives.

The group meets  weekly on Thursdays to study what members refer to as the standard works (The Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price) and words of the Prophets and Apostles. Light nacks are provided at all meetings. Each Wednesday, the President of the club will send out an e-mail announcing the location, subject, and snacks of that weeks meeting, OR like our Facebook Page for updates: www.facebook.com/TUNLDSInstitute/

The subject of this year’s course is Doctrines of the Book of Mormon which will be taught by Sister Carolyn Lovell. Sis. Lovell has several years experience teaching Seminary, and has a unique perspective about the rigors of professional school as her husband is a practicing Neurologist here in Las Vegas.

In the Spring we will be teaching the Medicine Merit badge to Boy Scouts. Last year we put on 2 merit badge events and were able to teach over 200 scouts medical related merit badges like First Aid, Public Health and Emergency Prep.

All interested students and faculty are invited to attend our meetings and activities. Any questions about the group and its activities may be directed to club officers.
